Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has charged the new special advisers to show commitment, diligence and exemplary leadership as the necessary virtues needed to achieve the greatness desired by the state, as well as deliver the prosperity the residents deserve.

Governor Sanwo-Olu gave the charge on Thursday while swearing in the seven new special advisers to the state government in Ikeja, Lagos.

Reminding them “that this appointment must not be seen as an opportunity for self-service,” Sanwo-Olu said: “While discharging the responsibility that will be assigned to you, you must imbibe our culture of transparency, accountability, fairness and value for money.”

Also, while congratulating them on the appointment, Sanwo-Olu implored them to give their “all as the very minimum requirement in service of this great state and its people.”

The seven new appointees include Princess Aderemi Adebowale – Special Adviser, Civic Engagement, Dr. Olajide Abiodun Babatunde – Special Adviser E-GIS and Planning Matters, Toke Benson-Awoyinka – Special Adviser on Housing, and Abiola Okanlawon Moshood Olowu – Special Adviser, Commerce and Industries.

Others are Robert Bolaji – Special Adviser, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs,  Sola Giwa – Special Adviser on Transportation, and Femi Martins – Special Adviser, Tourism Arts and Culture.

According to him, “The swearing in of new Special Advisers is to replace those who voluntarily left the State Executive Council in recent months, to pursue their political ambitions.

“As a government, we take seamless continuity very important, as we strive to deliver on our electoral promises and agenda, to the good people of Lagos State.”

While welcoming the incoming members, the governor said: “I must point out that three of the seven persons being sworn in today are returning members, having been privileged to be reappointed.

“The remaining four are newcomers to the State Executive Council.”

“Your appointment is a testament to your capacity, your accomplishments and your track record of hard work, commitment, dedication and professionalism in your private and public endeavors.

“The role, as you might have imagined, is a demanding one, requiring intense levels of hard work and dedication. You will be expected to hit the ground running, especially considering that we are in the final year of our first term in office.

“You must quickly familiarize yourself with our grand vision and governing agenda, and with the specific roles and contexts of your assigned portfolios.”
